User Guide
Welcome to the official RoomyLab documentation. This guide will help you master every tool in the editor, from drawing your first wall to exporting professional blueprints.
Interactive Tour
First time here? You can also take the interactive tour directly inside the editor by clicking the Help (?) icon in the bottom right corner.
Walls & Rooms
You can draw walls individually or create entire rooms at once.
Wall Tool
Select the Wall Tool from the sidebar. Click to start a wall, move your mouse, and click again to end it. Walls will automatically snap to other walls to create corners.
Room Tool
The Room Tool allows you to drag out a complete rectangle. This is the fastest way to start a new floor plan.
Tip: Double-click on any existing wall while in Select mode to see its exact dimensions and type in a new length.
Counters
Create kitchen and bathroom layouts with the Counter Tool.
- Select the Counter Tool in the sidebar.
- Click and drag to place a standard counter segment.
- Drag from the edge of an existing counter to extend it or turn a corner (e.g., L-shape or U-shape).
Pro Tip: Counters automatically snap to walls and other counters for seamless layouts.
Flooring
Add texture to your rooms using the Floor Tool.
- Select the Floor Tool in the sidebar.
- Click inside the corners of a room to trace the floor area.
- Close the shape by clicking back on your starting point.
- The Properties Panel will appear, letting you choose from Hardwood, Tile, Carpet, or Concrete textures.
Furniture Library
RoomyLab comes with a library of standard furniture items. Click the Chair Icon to open the catalog.
Adding Items
Browse categories or search for specific items like "Sofa" or "King Bed". Click "Add to Blueprint" to drop it into the center of your view.
Customizing
Select any furniture item to rotate it using the handle, or change its dimensions in the sidebar. You can also change the color of most items to match your decor.
Trace Plan
Have an existing blueprint or a sketch on a napkin? You can upload it and trace over it.
- Click the Trace Image icon in the sidebar.
- Upload your image (JPG or PNG).
- Calibrate Scale: Click two points on the image that you know the distance between (e.g., a doorframe is usually 3 feet). Enter that distance.
- The image sets to the background layer. Now use the Wall Tool to trace over it perfectly to scale.
Layers Panel
Manage the visibility and editability of different project elements using the Layers Panel.
Layer Controls
Toggle the Eye icon to show/hide a category (Walls, Furniture, Floors, etc.). Toggle the Lock icon to prevent accidental edits to that category.
Measure Labels
Toggle the Dimensions icon (ruler) on specific layers to show or hide measurement labels to reduce clutter.
Saving & Exporting
Your work is automatically saved to your browser's local storage.
Export Image
Click the Download icon in the top right. You can choose between:
- Standard Export: A full-color image of your design.
- Blueprint Mode: A stylized clean blue-and-white specialized for construction documents.
