Face the desk toward the door
Sitting with your back to a wall and a view of the entrance — the 'command position' — reduces the low-level distraction of people walking in behind you.
Put the window to your side, not in front
Facing a window causes screen glare and facing away causes backlight on video calls. A window to the side gives even, comfortable light.
Keep a 30" clear zone behind the chair
You need about 30 inches to push back and stand up. Leave that space clear so the office never feels cramped.
